Latest News

Over the past six months, the Health Partnerships Team has been busy:

  • engaging with our funded organisations and community stakeholders to better understand the service landscape, community needs and service gaps, First Nations strengths and resilience and contextual challenges.
  • supporting other commissioning sectors and subsectors to ensure First Nations perspectives are heard, considered and reflected in commissioning documents, priorities and outcomes, particularly as they relate to health and social and emotional wellbeing.
  • collating data and information to inform a Discovery Discussion Paper and future commissioning Needs Assessment.

We look forward to sharing the progress and outcomes of this work.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Commissioning is in the Discover phase of the commissioning cycle.

In 2023, ACT Health Directorate refreshed the approach to commissioning. Under the Refreshed Approach, commissioning subsectors were realigned into one of three commissioning streams:

1. Intensive Commissioning

2. Flexible Alignment

3. Supported Capability

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Commissioning sector was realigned into the Flexible Alignment Stream. This resulted in funded service providers within this sector, whose agreements were due to expire on 30 June 2024, securing a 3-year extension to their current agreements via a transition to a new deed of grant. Over the life of this deed of grant, ACTHD is working with our funded providers to support the building of commissioning capability, support innovation in service delivery and support the transition to outcomes monitoring and reporting.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Partnerships Team ('Health Partnerships Team'), Policy, Partnerships and Programs Division, lead the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Commissioning Sector within ACT Health Directorate.
