We share experiences about commissioning in multiple ways – in one-on-one discussions between peaks and government representatives, during cycle engagement activities, in sector update sessions, within sector forums arranged by peak organisations and through formal surveys after commissioning activities and annually.
While we are working through the analysis and insights of the 2023 Commissioning Annual Survey, we are also taking stock of what needs improvement, including:
- Communication – more status updates, particularly for timeframe changes
- Timeframes – keeping cycles on track and managing participant expectations with plenty of notice for changes
- Capacity – working through time-efficient participation approaches and opportunities to streamline commissioning by sectors not just funding streams
- Financial investment – being upfront about available funding and demonstrating where commissioning has informed further investment
In preparing the 2023 Commissioning Listening Report, we will develop actions to address these and other areas of improvement, just as we did in 2022.
