Senior officials and sector leaders dialogue

In June, we introduced you to the new Commissioning Senior Officials Group (CSOG) and its role in coordinating across directorates, identifying and addressing reform challenges and monitoring progress of commissioning as a mechanism to achieve human service system reform.

For CSOG to be effective in its role, it is key that CSOG members hear directly from leaders in the community and health sectors. The first interactive session between CSOG and the NGO Sector was held on 26 September.

The CSOG Dialogue Forum provides an opportunity for senior officials and sector leaders to come together to discuss the big, complex challenges that need to be addressed if reform is to be achieved.

This first CSOG Dialogue Forum saw senior officials from across directorates respond to sector questions about:

While this was not the first time many of these questions had been raised, members of CSOG welcomed the opportunity, space and focus to better understand the strategic issues that are priorities for the sector.

From all reports, the CSOG Dialogue Forum was highly valued by senior officials as it provided them with additional nuance, context, and examples to support the insights we hear through other channels. The dialogue forum led to further discussion among members and provided an impetus to identify next steps for CSOG’s consideration of other key challenges.

Thanks to sector leaders for their involvement, and particular thanks to ACTCOSS for coordinating sector engagement and co-chairing the conversation on the day.

A summary of the forum will be available soon.
