2024 Election caretaker period and what it means for NGOs

The 2024 Election is nearly upon us, and we want to take this opportunity to provide some clarity about the caretaker period and what this means for commissioning and sector partners.

Currently active decision making processes about contracts or grants will be completed before caretaker period commences. Ongoing arrangements will operate as usual and NGOs can liaise with relationship managers on operational matters as required.

The Caretaker period commences at 12:00am on Friday 13 September 2024 (37 days prior to polling day on 19 October 2024) and ends with the election of the Chief Minister on the first sitting day of the Legislative Assembly following the election. For upcoming investment cycles, the respective commissioners have considered the caretaker period and will ensure to minimise overlap with the caretaker period.
