THE YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL (YAC) PROVIDES YOUNG PEOPLE AGED 12 TO 25 WITH A VOICE.
- provides young people with the opportunity to take a leading role in participation and consultation activities on issues that affect their lives;
- raises awareness of the aspirations, needs and concerns of young people within government and community; and
- Facilitates interaction between young people and the ACT Government and the wider community.
We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic, passionate and diverse young people who have different life experiences and backgrounds. Anyone can nominate to be a YAC member. The YAC will consist of up to 15 young people ranging in age from 12 to 25 years. Members are paid a contribution.
Potential members must ensure they are prepared to attend monthly meetings, training and development sessions and other relevant activities as required. If you would like to participate in providing the Minister for Children, Youth and Families with direct and well-informed advice on matters relating to young people and ensure that the diversity of young people’s experiences and circumstances is reflected in advice to government then the YAC is the place for you.
