2020 - ACT Young Woman of the Year
Shiralee Sankey was awarded the 2020 ACT Young Woman of the Year. She has overcome adversity to become a highly highly effective advocate, leader and mentor for young people. She was the first in her family to complete year 12.
In addition to supporting herself while studying, she drove a successful campaign to re-instate the youth centre drop-in service in Civic. Shiralee is deeply involved in ensuring community facilities and organisations meet the needs of young women. She is active in community initiatives as a member of the Youth Reference Group at Northside Community Service and in the planning and coordinating the Girls' Night Activity in Gungahlin.
She won the Personal Achievement Award in the 2019 ACT Young Citizen of the Year Awards.
