2019 - Improving the Status of Women and Girls in the ACT
Marcia Williams has made an outstanding contribution to improving the status of women and girls in the ACT through her work as the Chair of the Domestic Violence Prevention Council (DVPC) from 2014-2019, as CEO of the Women's Centre For Health Matters (WCHM) from 2009 and in her broader work in the community with nongovernment and private sector organisations.
In all of her work Marcia has been an incredibly effective and influential advocate and champion for women and victim survivors of domestic violence and has always sought to ensure they have a direct voice in developing new policy and approaches. She has also successfully brought together government, community and private sectors to collaborate on an improved response to domestic and family violence in the ACT. She has committed huge energy, passion and personal time to this work and made a real and concrete difference to the lives of women in the ACT.
Ms Williams also led WCHM’s responses to raise awareness about domestic and family violence and women’s safety in the ACT.
