2019 - ACT Scientist of the Year
Dr Sophie Lewis was awarded the 2019 ACT Scientist of the Year.
Sophie’s groundbreaking work studying Australia's record hot 2013 summer led her to develop new techniques that are helping scientists around the world understand the local, national and global impacts of climate change.
Sophie is a Senior Lecturer and Research Fellow at the University of New South Wales Canberra who received her PhD in palaeoclimatology in 2011 from the Australian National University and started her research on Australia's record hot 2013 summer. She is also a Lead Author on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Sixth Assessment Report (WG1, AR6) and a Domain Editor for WIREs Climate Change.
