Practice guide 1: Screening for adults

The practice guide is for use when you are introducing the process of asking all clients some key initial questions about DFV. It is also useful for introducing more targeted questioning.

Practice guide 2: Example risk assessment

This practice guide is an example risk assessment that would be used if you are in a position to support a client to undertake an assessment of their risk, noting that the identification of any risk also requires management strategies to address the risks.

Practice guide 3: Safety plan template

This practice guide is for use when you and the client have identified risks related to DFV. This template helps you to map out strategies to improve safety in advance of a crisis occurring.

Practice guide 4: e-safety checklist

This practice guide is for use when you and the client have identified risks related to DFV. Perpetrators of DFV often misuse technology to track and abuse their victims. This checklist provides some pointers for how to prevent that from occurring.

Practice guide 5: Risk management planning example and template

This practice guide is a risk management plan template for use when you and the client have identified risks related to DFV. This template collates the risks, the strategies and the e-safety actions you have already identified into one clear template with actions required clearly identified. Because risk is dynamic and changing, this plan needs to be updated regularly.

Practice guide 6: Summary risk assessment and management template

This practice guide is a template that provides a quick summary or overview of the level of risk, an outline of protective factors, any identified needs that might impact on safety, and the steps you have taken to improve safety.
