Stepping up for Children and Young People
The aim of A Step Up for Our Kids is to provide better outcomes and improve the lives of vulnerable children and young people in out of home care. A Step Up for Our Kids is child focused and will recast services around the child or young person, placing their needs at the centre of the care system. Some of the key changes for children and young people include:
- From July 2015, the introduction of therapeutic assessments and therapeutic plans to be rolled out progressively to all children and young people in care.
- From January 2016, the extension of the carer subsidy from 18-21 years of age.
- From April 2016, the establishment of the 'Children and Young People Engagement Support Service'
