Tenants Consultative Group meeting – 20 April 2018
At the second Tenants Consultative Group (TCG) meeting members provided valuable insights and feedback on a Housing ACT project to digitise service delivery for tenants. Members were presented with a working prototype and offered useful feedback on a range of issues including maintenance, debt, accessibility, usability and privacy. Members also gave feedback on how the work could be aligned with the Tenant Handbook and Home Front newsletter.
Members advised Housing ACT of a number of presentation topics that could support the TCG’s forward work plan. Members noted that they would benefit from improved understanding of Housing ACT processes and schemes in order to promote a greater tenant awareness. The following presentation topics were identified for future meetings:
- affordable home ownership schemes;
- allocation, transfer, downsizing and home modification processes; and
- other Housing Manager processes, including handover of client information during a change in staffing.
Members also discussed the National Social Housing Survey and issues about its usability. The survey reports findings from public housing, community housing and state owned and managed Indigenous housing tenants. The survey is undertaken by Lonergan Research on behalf of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW). Distribution of the survey is random among public and community housing tenants across Australia. The AIHW analyses the data and develops a national summary report, which is available on the AIHW website.
