Canberra Rape Crisis Centre External Link - provides sexual assault counselling, crisis support, advocacy, conducts community education and facilitates support groups. An Aboriginal Outreach support worker is available for women and children.

Women's Health Service External Link - provides counselling for women who have been affected by domestic and family violence. Also provides a short-term generalist counselling service for women by women.

Directions ACT External Link - provides confidential telephone and face-to-face information on alcohol and other drug use, primary health care & intervention, counselling & advocacy, school & community education, information and referral.

The Salvation Army Bridge Program External Link - offers a variety of outpatient services for people affected by addiction, including telephone counselling. 

Women's Information Resources and Education on Drugs and Dependency (WIREDD) - provides information, resources, counselling and outreach to women to minimise the harm associated with dependencies and to educate the community in understanding the needs of women affected by dependencies.

Family and Relationship Counselling

Faces External Link - Family and Adolescent Counselling Services provides a counselling service for people aged 10-21 years and for their parents, family members and carers.

Family Relationships Online External Link - provides all families (whether together or separated) with access to information about family relationship issues, ranging from building better relationships to dispute resolution. Kids Help Line External Link - a professional counselling service based on the principles of empowerment and child centred practice, for children and young people aged 5 to 18 years.

ParentLine ACT -External Link  offers free and confidential telephone service to anyone with a parenting concern. Limited face to face counselling is available. Out of hours follow up service provided.

Relationships Australia External Link - provides Counselling, mediation and group programs for people wanting to build better relationships. Available for those who are unhappy whit their relationships, experiencing conflict, living with violence, having sexual difficulties, separating from a partner, adapting to separation or divorce, considering remarriage or adjusting to new step family.

Women's Health Service External Link - provides counselling for women who have been affected by domestic and family violence. Also provides a short-term generalist counselling service for women who cannot afford private counselling.

Family Planning and Sexual Health Counselling

Aids Action Council External Link - provides a professional counsellor who can provide support on a one-to-one basis. This free service is available for people living with HIV/AIDS and for people coming to terms with their sexuality or transgender status. The service is also available for partners, families or friends.

Sexual Health & Family Planning Association ACT Inc. External Link - provides counselling for unplanned pregnancy, sub-fertility, menopause, sexuality, sexual health and wellbeing. Phone: 02 6247 3077 during business hours.

Unplanned Pregnancy Counselling Service External Link - provides confidential, non-judgmental and non- directive service for pregnant women and their partners, especially for unplanned pregnancy. Offers pregnancy testing, information, counselling, medical assessment and referral. Note: link is to SHFPACT pregnancy page, not a specific counselling service.

Financial Counselling

CARE Financial Counselling Service and the Consumer Law Centre of the ACT External Link - provides counselling service by qualified financial counsellors for people on moderate to low incomes who are experiencing financial problems. The Consumer Law Centre aims to provide legal assistance and advice to low or moderate consumers.

Mission Australia ACT Gambling Counselling and Support Services offer free counselling for individuals and families impacted by problem gambling, financial counselling  to assist with gambling related problems and support groups for individuals and families.  The service is situated at: CIT Building, Block E, 160 Ainsworth Street, Phillip, ACT 2606.  Phone: 02 6129 6100 or 1800 858 858.

ANU Psychology Clinic External Link - is a research, training and treatment centre. Therapy is provided predominately by intern psychologists completing their postgraduate training in clinical psychology under the supervision of a senior clinical psychologist. Provides counselling and therapy for adults experiencing anxiety disorders, depression, grief and bereavement and stress related health conditions.

Victim Services Scheme ACT External Link - assists victims of clime to recover from the consequences of a criminal act committed in the ACT. Offers information, counselling, advocacy, support and referral.

Vietnam Veterans Counselling Service (VVCS) External Link - provides counselling for Australian and Allied Veterans from all conflicts and some family members, peacekeepers and their families and current serving ADF members. Counselling on post traumatic stress disorder and other problems, war or services related or not.

National Association for Loss and Grief (NSW) Inc. External Link - offers information on all issues of loss and grief.

Canberra After Suicide Support Group - a self-help group, organised by people who have experienced the consequences of the suicide death of someone close to them. Helps reduce the isolation suffered by those bereaved by suicide, by introducing them to others who understand the heartache of suicide bereavement.

Canberra Standby Suicide Bereavement Response Service - provides an immediate response to people bereaved by suicide via its 24-hour crisis response telephone number. From there, those bereaved can receive face-to-face outreach service provided by a skilled Trauma Response Team and/or assistance in engaging other support services matched to their needs.
