Seniors Health Roundtable Report and ACT Government Response

Life's Reflections Photographic Competition | What do you Love?

Seniors Week | 18-29 March 2017

The ACT Government proudly supports ACT Seniors Week and the Council on the Ageing ACT has once again pulled together an impressive calendar of events to highlight the positive impact seniors have in our community.

From 18 to 26 March 2017, Canberrans can look forward to an exciting program which includes the Chief Minister’s Concert at Albert Hall, Seniors Week Expo at EPIC and Positive Ageing Awards.

The Life’s Reflections Photographic Competition also opens on March 24 with this year’s theme “What do you love?” calling for submissions that capture positive and diverse images of older people in the ACT.

ACT Seniors Week acknowledges the importance of older people as family members, friends, colleagues and fellow citizens and their invaluable role in our community.

ACT Volunteering Statement

The ACT Government recognises the benefits, opportunities and needs of volunteering in the community. The principles set out in the ACT Volunteering Statement are a platform for good practice. They reflect a whole-of-government and community approach to supporting and recognising volunteers.

The Community Services Directorate engaged Urbis to undertake a consultation process with the community sector and DeeDeeRa Actuaries to undertake an Actuarial Study on the ACT Community Sector. These reports informed the attributes and scope of the Scheme. For the purpose of providing the community with background and scope of the Scheme the Minister for Community Services has released the two reports.
