CHILD AND YOUTH PROTECTION SERVICES
The Child and Youth Protection Services works in partnership with the community to provide care and protection services to children and young people, and family and community support to meet the needs of the people of the ACT. It also operates a forty bed youth detention centre and supervises young people who have been placed on a court order.

HOUSING AND COMMUNITY SERVICES
Housing ACT provides information on housing assistance options - public, private, and community based and emergency/crisis housing.

Applications for housing assistance, rental rebate renewals and general correspondence may be posted to Housing ACT or via the courtesy mailbox located within the Tuggeranong Access Canberra Shopfront and the City and Phillip Health Centres.

QUALITY, COMPLAINTS AND REGULATION
Complaints regarding disability matters, community care and protection services and community housing sector can be directed to the Quality, Complaints and Regulation unit. The Human Services Registrar provides responsive regulation of service providers including specialist disability service providers to oversee safeguards for the NDIS.

The Office for Women is a small policy coordination and development unit located within the Community Services Directorate. The Office works to enhance the status of women in the ACT and in doing so, assists in the creation of a community where women are safe, healthy, equally represented, and valued for their contribution to society.

OFFICE OF ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER AFFAIRS
The Office of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs is the leader on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs in the ACT Government, and the business unit within the Community Services Directorate that is empowered to monitor and hold business units to account on ‘Closing the Gap’. The Office provides strategic advice to the Minister for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Affairs on issues affecting Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people living in the ACT.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT SERVICE
The Child Development Service provides assessment, referral, information and linkages for children 0-6 years where there are concerns relating to their development. The Service assists families who live in the ACT and have concerns about a child developing skills slower than others of the same age in areas such as, speech and language, movement, hand skills, self care, and social development.

CHILD AND FAMILY CENTRES
Provision of an early intervention and prevention program for children from birth to age five and their families. The program provides a range of universal and targeted parenting information and support services, specialist clinical services, community development and community education programs. Services are delivered in partnerships with other agencies, local community organisations and service providers.

OFFICE FOR DISABILITY
The ACT Office for Disability is responsible for supporting the Minister for Disability in the community, in the Assembly and in State/Territory forums.
The Office oversees and implements the ACT’s commitment for the National Disability Strategy 2010-2020; administers grants to improve the ability of people with disabilities to participate in mainstream community groups, coordinated and administer I Day Grants; coordinates and delivers the Connect And Participate Expo; supports the INVOLVE initiative; continues funding for peak agencies representing people with disability, carers and provides support to the Disability Reference Group.
