Project Independence

Project Independence is a new housing model for individuals with mild intellectual disability. The project is the first of its kind in the ACT as people with a disability will be able to acquire equity in the property, as well as be able to live as independently as possible.

It is currently being developed on two sites across Canberra; in Harrison and Latham.

Project Independence is the brainchild of local businessman Glenn Keys and is being supported by the ACT Government through the donation of land and funding.

The new social housing model is based on up to ten tenants living in three separate homes, all the while still eligible to receive formal and informal support.
