NAIDOC Week - 3-10 July 2016

This year, NAIDOC Week will be celebrated from 3-10 July 2016.  The theme for NAIDOC Week this year is Songlines: The Living Narrative of our Nation.

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held in the ACT each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Please see the attached calendar of events compiled by The Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, Community Services Directorate, ACT Government (OA&TSIA) in partnership with ACTCOSS Gulanga Program.

Issues Paper - Review of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body Act 2008

The ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body 2008 is being reviewed. The Elected Body provides a key strategic role in providing advice to the ACT Government on matters of importance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the ACT. Interested members of the community are invited to make submissions on the Issues Paper. ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Agreement 2015-18 The ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Agreement 2015-2018 sets out the commitment of the ACT Government and the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body to work together to recognise and respond to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in the ACT and surrounding region and their communities.
